The Veil Nebula complex lies approximately 1,400 light years from the Earth and is the remains of a supernova event that occurred between 5,000 and 10,000 years ago. It is estimated that the light of this explosion was visible in the night sky for several months and was even bright enough in the initial weeks of the explosion to cast shadows on the ground. Over time, material from this stellar explosion has expanded creating the wispy nebulous clouds we today call the Veil Nebula. The upper portion of this complex is also referred as the Western Veil nebula and the lower portion as the Eastern Veil nebula.

Jedno z najbardziej morderczych zdjęć jakie można sobie wyobrazić! Miałem już tego na prawdę dosyć. W sumie najdłużej chyba naświetlane zdjęcie jak do tej pory 19,5h a poszło jak po grudzie.

Fala uderzeniowa powstała w wyniku wybuchu wytworzyła delikatne struktury gazu, widzialną część Pętli znanej jako Mgławica Welon. Właśnie cały problem z Veilem polega na tym, że obszarowo jako cały kompleks jest bardzo słaby. Tylko jego niewielkie części świecą mocno. Dodatkowym utrudnieniem są gwiazdy Drogi Mlecznej, które skutecznie go przesłaniają. Ten przepiękny obiekt często obserwujemy na zlotach dużymi teleskopami często pada on również łupem kamer astrofotograficznych ale niezmiernie rzadko można podziwiać ten obiekt w całości ze względu na duży obszar jaki zajmuje na niebie. Tym razem cały kompleks Veila w technice narrowband Ha.
